A new powerhouse for college football may be arising. Kirby Smart may be the man behind it all.

Last season, Smart lead Georgia to an SEC Championship and to the National Championship game, all with a true freshman quarterback. Will Cain believes Georgia has the next big college football dynasty for the next five, maybe 10 years.

Cain believes the University of Georgia is the next big thing not only because of the players they have, but because of the players they are getting. Georgia has the best recruiting class in the nation, and are continuing to bring in great players. A lot of it is because the state of Georgia is developing great players.

Texas, Florida and California have traditionally been the states that produce the best college football players. Tom Luginbill, the ESPN National Recruiting Director, believes Georgia is taking over California’s spot on that list. Only difference is, so many schools are coming into Georgia to recruit players, which makes it difficult to keep the kids in Georgia. Luginbill said, “It is the most difficult to defend your own home turf.” Alabama, Clemson, Florida and other schools all come into Georgia to try to recruit those players. Having so many successful football programs coming into Georgia is hard to keep all of them at home. Kirby Smart said it is impossible to keep all the good players from Georgia at home. The key is to not to try to pursue all of them, but just the ones you know will help your program succeed and you need to be sure you get those ones you go after. UGA has a special opportunity to act on all this talent they have a home, get those players, and create a dynasty that will last a long time.

Will Cain said, “not only is Georgia sitting on a gold mine of talent, they have an opportunity to monopolize on that talent like no other schools do.” While there a lot of out of state competition, there really isn’t any other in state school that would compete with UGA for those players. That is a big advantage for the Bulldogs. Everyone is excited to see how Kirby Smart will act on this good fortune.
